Access Statement

Introduction 
Gable Lodge has 6 guest rooms. The house is over one hundred years old and is grade II listed so whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some limitations such as not having a ground floor bedroom. 
Pre-Arrival 
• We are located on the main road in Lynton with shops, pubs and cafes within 200 metres of the front door. 
• The nearest bus stop is less than 50 metres away. Buses run hourly, Mon to Sat to & from Barnstaple. 
• The nearest railway station is Barnstaple which is approximately 20 miles away. Taxis are usually available at the station but we can book a local one for you in advance if required. 
• Brochures and menus can be provided in large print if required. We regret we do not have facilities to prepare documents in Braille.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities 
• Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you. 
• To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 2.30pm. Earlier arrival may be possible by arrangement. 
• Parking is up a sleep slope to the rear of the house with access to the house back down the slope and in the front door. 
• It is possible to pull up at the bottom of the slope to the car park while we unload your luggage. 
• We offer assistance with luggage. 
Main Entrance & Reception 
• There is a 98cm wide front gate with a 3cm step up from the pavement. 
• The tarmac path to the front door is quite steep with one 15cm step. 
• The front door is normally open but please ring the bell on your arrival. 
• The doorbell is to the right hand side of the front door.
• The front door is 97cm wide with a 16cm step into the front hall. 
Public Areas - General (Internal) 
• The front hall has a tiled floor with a seat, boot rack and coat hooks. 
• The front hall leads into the main hall through a door 89 cm wide to a 
reception area which is carpeted, with guest lounge and dining room off. 
• There is a push bell to ring for assistance. 
• There are 17 stairs to the first floor; there is a hand rail on one side of these stairs. The stairs are carpeted. Each step is 18 cm high, 92 cm wide and 25 cm deep. 
• We have two guest bedrooms on the first floor. 
• There are 14 stairs to the second floor; there is a hand rail on one side of these stairs. The stairs are carpeted. Each step is 18 cm high, 81 cm wide and 25 cm deep. 
• We have four guest bedrooms on the second floor. 
• Overnight there is a small light illuminating the stairs 
Dining Room & Guest Lounge
• Guests are welcome to use the guest lounge at any time, it has a sofa, 2 arm chairs and a rocker. This room has a television.
• The lounge door is 80 cm wide, the dining room door is 77 cm wide.
• The lounge is carpeted and has a log burner during cold weather. 
• A selection of local information, walk books, maps, magazines and board 
games is available in the lounge. 
• Breakfast and evening meals are served in the dining room. 
• The dining room is carpeted and has French doors leading to a patio area. 
• We are licensed for the sale of alcohol. 
• A radio is usually playing at breakfast. Please ask to have it turned off if necessary. 
Bedrooms 
• All 6 bedrooms are en-suite. One room has a bath with shower over, the others have shower enclosures. 
• Beds are usually made with synthetic duvets and pillows. Blankets and sheets can be provided if preferred. 
• There are 2 chairs in each bedroom. 
• There is a folder in each bedroom which contains further information about us, the area and details of emergency numbers. 
• Each bedroom contains a small mini fridge as well as tea and coffee making facilities, tv and dvd, hairdryer & clock radio. 
• All double beds are 4' 6'' and are accessible from both sides. 

   All top floor bedroom doors are 72cm wide.
Bedroom 1
• On the top floor with a door opening on to a small balcony.
• There is a 24cm step onto the balcony, the door is 61cm wide.
• This room has a small en-suite bathroom with shower & toilet, the washbasin is in the bedroom.
• The bed is 59cm high with good access from both sides.
Bedroom 2
• On the top floor at the front of the house.
• A good sized full bathroom.
• The bed is 59cm high with good access from both sides.
Bedroom 3
• On the top floor at the back of the house.
• A 59cm high double bed and a 59cm high 3’ single bed.
• There is access to both sides of the double bed and to 1 side of the single.
• The en-suite is small but has a double size shower cubicle & a toilet, the washbasin is in the bedroom.
Bedroom 4
• On the top floor at the back of the house.
• A fair sized full bathroom.
• The bed is 59cm high with good access from both sides, however there is 
a sloping ceiling down one side of the bed which limits head height.
Bedroom 5
• On the first floor at the front of the house.
• This has a double bedroom with an adjoining bunk room off.
• A good size full bathroom with bath (shower over).
• The double bed is 59cm high with good access from both sides.
• The bunk room is small, lower bunk height is 15cm, top bunk is 118cm high with a guard rail. The access to the bunk beds is 51cm down 1 side.
• The bedroom door is 80cm wide.
Bedroom 6
• On the first floor with a door opening on to a balcony, there is an 11cm step onto the balcony, the door is 58cm wide and 157cm high.
• This room has a large full bathroom.
• The bed is 59cm high with good access from both sides.
• The bedroom door is 77cm wide.
Garden
• We have a small front garden with lawns, flower beds and a patio area. 
• Guests are very welcome to enjoy our garden and patio at all times. 
• The patio is made from old stone and is rather uneven in places, there is a table and 4 chairs on it. 
• Access to the garden is via the front door or through the dining room. 
Additional Information 
• There are fire alarm points in the main hall and on the first and top landings. 
• There are fire extinguishers in the entrance hall and on each landing. 
• In the event of a fire the fire alarm will sound constantly. 
• Please advise us if you have a hearing impairment and might not hear this. We will then alert you personally. 
• The building is evacuated through the front door. 
• We do not permit smoking in the house , balconies or garden.
• We are happy to cater for special diets or any particular likes or dislikes, please advise us of these before your arrival if at all possible. 
• We are happy to refrigerate any medication. 
• Mobile phone reception is poor and in much of the surrounding area there is no signal. You are welcome to use our landline. Please ask.. 
• Free Wi-Fi internet connection is available as well as the use of a laptop in the guest lounge to check e-mails etc. Please ask.
